Each year, Columbia University Business School and the School of International and Public Affairs come together for the annual Africa Economic Forum (AEF). This year’s 18th AEF conference is scheduled for Friday, April 22nd, and Saturday, April 23rd, 2022 at Columbia University Business School’s new Manhattanville campus at 635 West 130th St., NY, New York. It will be the first AEF in-person conference after a three-year virtual format due to the pandemic.
With the theme – “Africa Today & Tomorrow: Accelerating the Growth of an Economic and Cultural Powerhouse,” the event will bring together distinguished guests to discuss cutting-edge solutions and tailored strategies through thought-provoking discussions, with the goal to explore the untapped opportunities needed to meet Africa’s 21st century socioeconomic needs.
Attendees will have the opportunity to engage on topics such as Fintech, Private Equity, Youth Empowerment, Beauty, Health Care, Fashion & Art, Cutting-Edge Careers, Music & Entertainment, and more.
This year's Keynote speakers include Ralph Mupita, the President and CEO of MTN Group, Jeffrey D. Sachs, a widely celebrated professor of economics with a passion for sustainable development growth, and Edward Effah, the Board Chairman of Fidelity Bank Ghana, Limited.
“What makes AEF unique is the quality and diversity of top talent it brings together to foster productive dialogue about the future of Africa. There is no place I would rather be than among a group of committed leaders who care about building partnerships for Africa’s shared prosperity,” Global Director of UNSDSN Youth Programs, Brighton Kaoma, a speaker on the Youth Empowerment panel, said.
According to Abdul Karim, Afrochella Festival Founder and CEO, a speaker on the Music & Entertainment panel, the only way to continue the progress made in support of creatives on the continent is to continue to discover areas for improvements while highlighting the amazing progress achieved so far. "I look forward to a robust discussion alongside legendary industry players like Juls and Asa," he added.
At the end of the two-day conference, attendees will have developed their business capacity, enlarged their professional network, and conceived a renewed sense of hope and commitment toward the growth and development of Africa.
